Army R85 simulated blowback.

I have had my R85 for a while now, and not put many bb's through it. I noticed today, that the charging handle was no-longer simulating blowback, and so, I took apart the gun, and reseated the spring rod, and tightened the grub screw. When i was testing it, it was working, however, the charging handle never returned to its normal rest position, but always stayed open a little, around half an inch.

Taking apart the gun, i noticed that the part ontop of the gearbox that pulls the charging handle back, had jammed, short of its usual position. I fiddled a bit and it seems to have done more bad then good as the fuse blew, and the slide is now jammed (quite tightly) at the very rear of the gearbox. I am not sure what wrong, but I imagine that the slide jammed, and jammed the gears, causing the fuse to blow as it strained.

So, long story short, I am wondering now have I bricked the gearbox, and need a new one, or is there a possiblility of opening the gearbox and resetting the gears.

    Any help appriciated,
    Zalifer.

PS: When tested for continuity, using one plug into the gearbox, I get a contact with the body, showing continuity. is this normal? seems odd, does it indicate a short?
