This is why I love Stars and hate Party.

Not that you need to be told that Stars are far superior, but if you are making regular deposits and substantial cash outs from Party think for s second about how much it is costing you.

There was a thread about this already that I can't find where someone said he was losing 3% on deposits and another 3% on withdrawals from Party based on the XE.com rate.

I recently withdrew from stars and decided to get a cheque in euros. If you cash out > $1000 you get it within 72 hours and it is sent to you by courier in an A4 package so it doesn't look like a cheque. I got the exact exchange rate $ to € based on the XE.com rate to the cent. I don't normally have to pay any additional fees with my bank for foreign deposits but if you do, getting paid by by cheque in euro would also be another bonus.

    Pokerstars are the nuts.

have to strongly agree with u there nicky. i was playing on pacific poker last year and it took 4-6 weeks!!! for a cheque. unreal or what. it also came in dollars. pacific poker is an absolute joke. anyone considering playing on it. STAY AWAY!! i only played on it cos i had no credit card at the time and it was the only site that accepted laser.
oh almost forgot! wait till u hear this!
they have a **** rakeback system called bonus points. and if ur a regular winner u dont get any! i was playing with them last year doin well, when one day i noticed a personalised email from them. i got excited thought they were going to offer me some kind of sponsorship or something cos the start of the email was like.... we would like to congratulate u on ur success our records indicate u are a consistint winner. at this point im excited. then i read on.... as u have won so much money u are no longer eligible for our comp points! that was the last staw for me, got myself a credit card deposited on stars cleared out my pacific account and havent looked back since :D

Ah yer making me feel guilty now :o.

Only pulling Nicky's leg though ;)

Another reason why Party are sh1t, they offer a bonus with an expiry date, a couple of days later well within the original expiry date log back in and the bonus offer is no longer there

btw I mentioned about this currency exchange bs 8 months ago but I got riduculed basically...

I used to play there get bank transfers direct to my account in about 3 days, cheques didn't take long either.

I like Stars best, got a few skins on my laptop but only play on Stars. I like the selection they offer and I like the software in general, and I always get friends etc who are just starting out playing to download stars.

Plus I still cant get Party on my computer, I mentioned the problem ages ago and still cant get it to work :(

You know when your account is in € but obviously the games are in $ on ipoker, when you take say $100 to a table is subject to any exchange rates when you reload, join a table and leave a table, id be particularly interested if someone from GJP could tell me is this the case since i play on GJP as its something i never considered?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

you cash out at the same rate that you join the table at.

    Just to clarify:

Your Poker account is in $$. Your Sportsbook is in $$,euro or £.

You will only lose on the exchange rate if our rate changes whilst money is in the poker side of your account.

Our rate only changes once a month usually. If you have large amounts on your account, keep the majority in your sportbook if it is not a $ sportsbook, just in case.

When you withdraw it is done in your sportsbook currency regardless of whether you do it through the poker client or not.

I believe this is also the same on PPP but maybe someone from there can confirm.

I think you should consider increasing the frequency of currency updates Mike, especially in light of the recent volatility of the dollar.

That's precisely how it works on PPP, other competitors would tend to update their currencies on a weekly basis however.

when I withdrew recently from GJP to NETeller I lost about 1% in the exchange rate. The cashier prompted me to withdraw a $ amount, and the money was deducted from my poker account, not my sportsbook account (i.e. I didn't have to transfer it to sportsbook first). I expected this though because my sportsbook is in euro.

usually withdrawals to my bank account have gone perfectly and I have lost only about 0.1% presumably to bank charges.

I agree with you on the point that stars is a superior poker site to party both in the way its run and the numbers it has playing there. But for me the games on Party are a lot weaker and this trumps the other two reasons any day.
