Viewing Cards - Interchangable?

If my neighbour has a viewing card with SkySports and I have Setanta, can it be swapped with my own viewing card so that I would be able to watch Sky Sports?

I think in theory this should work but not sure.. Will test later, but just curious if someone knows if/why it is/isnt possible..

AFAIK Sky cards cannot be easily swapped between receivers. The card and the receiver are "paired" via their serial numbers. If you wish to permanently change the card to a new receiver you must contact Sky and give then the serial numbers and they make the change at their end to set up the new "pair".

It wont work for "Premium" channels but will work for most of the channels in the basic packages and all the FTV channels.

Yes. That would work.

FYI Setanta channels are not paired to individual digiboxes..
