lads, let the AH thread die.

The opinions are uneducated and not unexpected from the type that are commonly dealt with through reasoned and logical debate.

Don't get into an arguement with idiots, remember Lemming's sig.

I'm not starting a new thread for this but it looks like the Star actually got their facts straight on the differences between airsoft, airguns, paintball and firearms. Kudos to the reporter for doing the basic research most people ignore, and to the IAA for their press liasons, it's clearly working.

Spin103.8 are talking about the airgun incident right now. Dereck from mia was on. The presenter was laughing at him when he made the distinction between airsoft/airgun.

I was listening to the show...didnt hear the presenter laugh, if anything they took him rather seriously.

Maybe your right, the presenter was quite serious but I'm almost certain I heard a chuckle when he mentioned little plastic balls

I think we should have an "up yours" button as well as a thank button. The picture could be of a little hand giving the middle finger. It would save so much time typing up an argumentative response to posters who piss me off.

    Great idea.

or how about a little troll button that initiates a pop up that says "F£$K OFF" to the gobsh1te when it's pressed a certain number of times.

Better yet and "AutoBahn" function to immediately ban pillocks and timewasters ... it would be a huge weight off the shoulders of the mods too.

    Whats that saying

" The richiest man in the history of the world will be bloke who invents a programme to punch someone over the internet"

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭deepimpact

that's no fun though, it's much better to sick Fallschirmjager/Hivemind/Dex or any other of the posters gifted in the art of pwnage and ripping posts apart.

I'd much rather lol at that tbh, than the potential satisfaction of knowing some dipsh1t gets his commupence, I think to intellectually pwn a troll is uber cool

    I.

    Loathe.

    Steam.

The singular worst and most evil piece of proprietary software ever created. And I include anything with an iTunes or Microsoft logo in that.

Couldn't agree more. Some mates downloaded Sacred 2 via Steam and I tried to play online with them...I couldn't. Seems that Steam gives everyone the American version **only**, which has it's own distinct servers separate from the European ones. And I never did get Half Life 2 to get past 99% downloaded...

All I wanted was to play Portal. I never did before because of Steam and my hatred of it but I found the Orange Box for twenty bucks so I cracked. I started the installation process at about 7.30-8pm last night. It's still not installed this morning. Steam was still "scanning for updates" to games I don't have and to a service I don't want at 2am.

Agreed - Steam and all its clones. EA and MS have their own versions ... both of which are horrifying to work with.

    1. You using Vista?

    2. Restart Steam, that process normally takes 10-15 secs.

I really dont see why everyone hates steam, it is really usefull.

Steam has made the world a better place.

I no longer have to venture into gamestop and the likes, and get lifestorys from the ****ing staff....

plus, its just handy to use. Never ran into any trouble, its a simple process.

pay for game, download it, wait for updates to download and install.

buy game, enter cd key, wait for downloads to install, its that easy.

Took me all of ten minutes to get portal running, and then got pissed of, it was such a short game.

Granted I dont use steam alot anymore, its a great tool. For counter strike etc, i can just see what friends are online, jump into their game, pwn them, then annoy them with bleeping instant messages, telling them how i pwned them.

I'm on a slow connection so downloads are of no concern to me. Scratch one reason.

If I buy a game I expect it not to need further downloads straight after I install it. I paid for a finished product, not a half finished one. Scratch two.

Portal was the only reason I was willing to give Steam a second chance. Steam infuriated me so much with over-elongated waiting times and taking up space, as well as being constantly connected to some server I wasn't using I couldn't give a toss about Portal anymore. Scratch three (and cue uninstall).

I don't play games online that require Steam. TF2 holds no appeal and I never liked Counter Strike either. My slowish connection renders most games unusable online anyway. Scratch four.

Basically what I'm saying is that it's in the way and I see absolutely no reason why it should be a mandatory install to play what is essentially a spin off from the sandbox mode from Half Life's development. If it was just an option there'd be no problems.
Yeah, I know it's also used for verifying the disc and anti piracy and all that jazz, but Relic manage that without a separate invasive and useless program resulting in me tossing the Orange Box across the room and reaching for CoH again.

Some people like it, but it's generally just the people who play TF2 and CS that actually do like it.

I still play TFC (didnt get into TF2....no nades :D ) and find steam an ok platform for launching mods (i have over 50).

Ive never experienced problems with it allthough i would still prefer WON because "We dont like change".

    Each to their own.
