Any options available to me?

I'm female, mid 20's with an ok job. Been in a relationship for the past 3 years where we had 'the children talk' at about 6 months in. We both really dislike kids and I have known for about 10 years that I really can't stand being around them so falling pregnant would not be an option. This isn't just a short term thing so please don't argue with me about how I would fall in love with any child that I were to have.

I have been on and off contraceptive for the last couple of years and apart from messing with me on a small scale I've been ok. However lately I have been asking if I should look at something more permanent like sterilisation. It would just remove any chance of an accident and with the problems on my mothers side of the family there's a very good chance that I would have problems conceiving after 37 or so.

My question is would any doctor consider me for the op? (Aside from the counsilling and suitability testing for it) Or would they consider me far too young and not even consider it? Do I have any other options?

This op will be entertained once you reach 30 (though normally more so if you've had a child already).
Find yourself a doctor willing to write a letter to the hospital instructing them to take you on for the op and take it from there.
If you are strong minded and give them the impression you know this is exactly what you want, then they will most likely do the op.
It normally is just a day trip to the hospital and you will feel discomfort for about a week afterwards.

    OP.

As a man I really thought about getting the Snip after I had my first child (Only have one) when I was 21. I was so scared and freaked out by the whole experience I never wanted to go through it again. I still felt like that well into my mid twenty's, I can't remember exactly when or why but one day I was looking at my daughter (I'm a weekend Dad unfortunately) and it suddenly hit me, "what was I thinking?! Am I mad?!"

Its very hard to explain, I'm having difficultly even formulating thoughts around it now but I think for me it was just the sheer panic from when I first found out my ex GF was pregnant and the overwhelming fear I had, I think looking back I just holding on to that panic but once I addressed it, it went away.

I know its not what you asked for OP and I'm totally for everyone to their own thing without being judged but in this case I just wanted to share with you a little bit of what I went through. I would just consider it for a very long time because once it goes ahead you can NEVER go back and you know peoples views change, you change. Who is to say in 3 years you completely change your mind, your kinda in trouble then, Do you know what I mean? If your happy enough with your monthly pill or cant you get some of short term injection? I would advise you to stick with it.

Its another option, which leaves you with more options and that way at least you will have a choice.

    Good luck either way though.
