I know I tried to organise it already but work got in the way, if anyone's interested I'm working on two classic cars over the Christmas and if anyone want to come down we'll show then the basics on welding, metal fabrication, filling work, soldering, spraypainting etc. We'll be working from St. Stephens day on for the week so if your interested let me know. I will be limiting numbers as I don't want to swamp the place and I think people will only end up talking classic cars instead of working on them. Don't worry, I'm not looking for cheap labour, I'm not trying to sell anything and there's no charge.:)

I'll be there, I have been using a MIG welder for the last couple of months but I'm still very messy and haven't a clue when it comes to complex shapes etc. ;)

    May call in.

I might be talking to you before then too. Been hectic busy weekends for the past month, but must try and start on the Capri.

Junkyard fantastic offer, can you repeat it later next year i'd love to learn more before i tackle any project, i've worked on cars before but never tackled any restoration project and its something i'm seriously considering next year as i think i can arrange a lock up to practice and work on cars

Great off Junky, I know you made the offer before !

I'd love to do it but I will be away for the two weeks over Christmas, however if you repeat the offer count me in !

Please someone take photos, or even a video !

Junkyard, my brother would be mad interested if the offer isn't exclusively for boards members. He's not totally ignorant about cars and he's always wanted to learn about bodywork.

    What do you think??

It now looks likely it's going to be the Friday after Christmas as it suits most people. Just let me know what aspect of restoration you want to know about and I'll line up a victim, that said I won't be able to do a complete restoration in the one day but I'll do my best to cover any aspect that most people want to know about. P.M. me for directions etc. and places, thanks.

    S.I.R,

which course is that ? Did a few of the FAS welding courses which were so-so...welding really needs just lots of practice once you learn the technique...

Around 10 or 11 Alfasudcrazy, just PM me and let me know if your coming beforehand.

its a base line " fetac " lvl3.... just enough for me to get to grips with welding , seems as though nobody can weld a car so its the best career option imo...

also you have my number so if possible , give us a buzz in the morning and inform me of the location of your junkyard and ill be there....

Am on one of these, lasts for 4 months... It's second month now and jaysus what a waste, so far...

Gas and TIG welding limited basic, no theory, no explanation of different welding techniques and when use what or which. There will be some FETAC test at the end, but it's only a paper. Majority of people on the course thought, that they will learn everything, so they could practise after the course without walking in the dark.
As I understod there's no official test for MIG, so sorry, you can forget about even try. Anyway, it will be better, hopefully.

Sorry, Junkyard, for hacking your thread
