    hey

decided im gonna invest in some new clubs for christmas.

need everything except a putter.was thinking of the taylormade r7draw driver+hybrid(i slice a lot and am trying to draw the ball now). anyone know anything about these?

bearing in mind the above 2 cost 400 in total im not spendin too much on irons.anyone know a decent midpriced set?

any good value wedges on the market?

lastly do golf shops offer trade ins on clubs?

    any input greatly appreciated

If you're trying to cure a slice your best bet is Cobra m-speed L4V(just out this month), we stock them and they've worked a treat for anyone who got them off us who had struggled with a slice. The reason they work so well is because they're offset and the face is slightly closed.

Irons wise you could try something like Ben Sayers if you dont want to spend a whole pile or you might pick up a deal on irons that are going to be replaces by a new line this year e.g. Ping G5

What handicap are you? How often do ya play? are ya takin lessons? etc. Might be able to give ya better feedback..

As for trade-ins most places take them but if ya have a mate interested in buying them off ya that'd be your best bet because most people dont offer very good money on trade-ins because they can be pretty hard to sell on.

Hope that helps if you've any more Q's just ask..

I'll be changing in the new year so I have been playing weekly for the last 6 week's and will have a few lesson's as well. Then perhaps custom fitting or the advice of the pro - will see what he says.

    yeah thanks for the help.

handicap is 18 at the minute but havent played enough this year and am currently playing like a 26 handicapper.i only play about 2/3 times a month but im always in my garden doing drills so its not like im very rusty with a club in my hands.

i get lessons but in between them i seem to go back to hitting a slice.i struggle with my backswing.if i can get that sorted my handicap shud drop.

Definitely consider Cobra they are a great Game improvement Company. I don't know if you knew this but Titliest and Cobra are the one company.. The idea being that Titliest is aimed at golfers with a handicap of 11 and under and Cobra designed for players with handicaps of 12+. So Cobra clubs should suit you down to the ground right now, And then you when start playing a bit more often and that handicap starts droppin quicker than Paris Hiltons panties, you can start thinkin about clubs that offer a little more playablility..

Best of luck with all of it!

Seanie if you do go for the R7 draw check out rockbottomgolf.com - you'll get it for $220 including shipping (about €150 but expect to pay between 40 - 50 extra in tax/admin).

(i slice a lot and am trying to draw the ball now)

Is it a slice or a fade? Slices are fairly pronounced and generally there is something wrong in the swing that needs fixing. I'm not sure draw biased clubs to fix a slice is the way forward?

That said if it stops you wrapping your driver around the nearest tree in frustration then maybe ;)

Have the same issue (heavy fade/slice) and found a club at the weekend which I think is gonna work though I am a slightly higher handicapper than yourself at 21. Have written about just there in another post here and its the Wilson Dd6+ 12 degree offset. It was €249 but I have been looking around to see if I can get it any cheaper but no joy so far. A few UK sites are advertising it for £150-170 but this is pretty similar to prices here.

I also recently bought myself a set of Wilson Deep Red 2007 irons/hybrids for £120 on ebay. They were retailing at €400+ here so I made a substantial saving by getting them from the UK.

yeah its a slice and is a swing issue but the rare occassion that i swing it really well i hit a slight draw so maybe a draw based club would help.

im certainly sick of the right hand side of the course!
