I had one in the UK. A great piece of kit. The cheaper method was to shoot the .38's through it but then feel the difference when you put a .358 magnum through it. It was, literally, like getting a slap in the face. Very accurate gun as well. Good choice if you do go for it.

I have a pic somewhere, if I find it I will put it up (haven't come across it for ages though).

Great trigger. My friend bought one new for €850. If you want details PM me.

The S&W 686 is a great piece of equipment. Very accurate. The trigger is really heavy out of the box but this is easily fixed. There is a lot that can be done to this revolver at a later date to customise it if you get serious about competitions, so the 686 is never a bad buy.

The 686 trigger is not heavy out of the box. If it is there is something wrong with it. Perhaps you should try it in single action:D:D:D

lads do you buy a gun in single action or double action i understand it to mean double action would be that the trigger would pull so far then meet a second kind of stop were the gun would then fire if pulled further ?? guessing you don"t get both actions in one gun...you buy either or ??ya thanks for input lads

single action only releases the hammer, (after the first shot the slide will automaticaly cock the hammer for each following shot)
double action is where pulling the trigger cocks and then releases the hammer in one movement so it's a longer and heavier pull.
you can get guns with both single and double action. mostly semiauto pistols.

(or technicaly, on a revolver you can cock the hammer first manualy, and then fire a shot in single action)

    hope that made sense

Why??? It would ruin a great gun.

I would also imagine that you will find that you are not able to compete in any competition with such a combination!

    I am open to correction.

A scope would be rather pointless. You can't hunt with a full bore pistol in Ireland, and if you turned up to a target shooting competition with a scope.. well let's just say that no-one that I know of shoots open class revolver. :)

    Hi guys
Just heard on corks 96fm news at 9 o clock that ALL hand guns are now banned, licences will not be renewed in July for any pistols for anyone due to the rising pistol use in crime, to my knowledge no leagally held pistol was ever used in a crime, I stand to loose my two pistols. A knee jerk reaction by the government to say the least.
