Would anyone here be up for a browser based stratgy game, something on the lines of Blacknova traders and diplomacy, although not those since we've done them already ?

The ones I've looked at are detailed below.
    http://darkkeep.com/forum/index.php/topic,388.0.html

If you're interested and/or have alternative suggestions for a game stick them down here or on the forum linked above. If we can get the numbers we can look at a start in around a week or so.

If you're suggesting something try and keep it web based that way, although if its really good and has a linux backend we could give it a look see.

Right this game is kicking off tomorrow. It'll be a phpDiplomacy game once again so lots of cunning plans followed shortly after by betrayal.

We run these things from here if you've any suggestions for game settings etc.

Just a quick shout if anyone is still interested, turkey is entering civil disorder (ie. the the player slot is open) if anyone wants to get in on the act while its still opening moves.

What is the story with these types of games - turn based strategy games? Like a much more fun version of online chess? Difficult to pick up? Just glanced at the darkkeep website and it looks interesting!

We've played a few turn-based strategy games (and in the long long ago Dawn of War) Civ4 would be the big one of which there have been a few games. They're slow burners with games lasting the guts of a year in some cases.

Diplomacy is more like risk for adults and unlike the current Civ games you've a limited amount of time in which to complete your turn (24 hours) although Civ can do the same with the pit boss server.

I'm pretty sure we'll be starting another Civ game since one of them has just ended we normally stick a notice here if your a civ fan. The diplomacy game has an open spot for Italy so you could grab that to see how the game works.

It's which ever comes first players complete their turns or the 24 hours completes.

Are there any free spots left? Otherwise I'll play next time around, really sounds like fun!

There aren't any spaces left, though if a player drops out there will be.

Unfortunately, joining in after the game is a number of turns old tends to mean you come to a sticky end quite quickly, sorry miju, can't have weak nations on my flanks :)

Vanilla Civ4 or BTS? I think I'm still too cheap/bitter to buy it....

Ooops sorry guys - I joined and then totally forgot about it; maybe next time

It's not exactly fast paced though... anyone up for a browser game which involves a little more action?

Suggest a game and I'm sure we can set it up.

Are there any free browser based strategy games more in the vein of Civ II out there? Turn-based I guess. Wouldn't mind finding one or two to play over Christmas with my brothers.
