Burning DVD's from AVi

    Hey guys,

looking for some advice on burning DVD's from AVI files. I have used Toast 8.1 but i find that the picture is zoomed in on my TV, even though it plays back perfect on my Mac. I have gone into the settings and tried to fix it to display 16:9 but the quality really suffers badly from jaggy lines.

So i tried using iDVD(wasn't aware i could use avi's but it works) trouble is there is huge difference between the screen area and TV safe area. Is there any way to tell it to scale down the menu screen to match the TV safe area. Will the movie be similarly constrained? or does that only applyu to the menu screens?

Can anyone recommend any alternative software or any settings i should apply to the above to create a DVD movie. Have considered DL dvd's but they're still quite expensive aren't they?
