Hi - booked a holiday last week for Dec and forgot that I needed a passport for our 3 month old daughter. So theres a bit of a rush on to get that sorted!

I took some shots with my Canon 350D last night that comply with the passport office requirements and now I just need to get them developed in regulation passport size. Tried a few places out in the Lucan area last night but nobody could do it for me. Does anyone know where I could get it done in Dublin city centre?

Any colour print/copy centre should be able to do it for you... You could try the Colour Copy Centre on Pembroke street off Leeson Street. I don't know if they do small but they've done (larger) custom sizes for me. Might be worth giving them a ring...

Edit: Incidentally, I recently took a self portrait, printed it myself and applied for a passport... No problems :D

www.photobox.ie do them for cheap enough, but this deprives you the pleasure of driving into town:rolleyes:

resize them correctly on your own pc and then just print them out on a 6x4 in any photolab for less than 50c

I printed my own recently too, and they were acceptable to the Chinese embassy for a visa :)

Excuse my ignorance, but if I re-size them to 35mm x 25mm or whatever it is, won't the machine in the photo shop automatically crop and resize to fill out the 4x6?

How do I include a blank space so that that is printed off too (so that I can cut it off)?. I've got Adobe photoshop at home....

Set up a blank 15x20cm canvas, then put your image in it at 25x35mm or whatever, then copy and paste if you wanna get 4 copies on the one...

Be very wary about the irish passport requirements as they are cruel. Make sure the facial dimensions are correct (theres a handy guide on the applicaition form) and that the mouth isnt open/showing teeth. I work in a pharmacy, we had a pakistani man come in three times where they wouldnt accept the photo for his son as the little fecker kept smiling every time we took a photo!:)

Watch out for b&w light/dark levels - they are sticky on this too. Another vote here for going with a 4x6 and edit multiple copies to appear on it. If your own home printer/printing system is reasonable enough then get yourself a sheet of photographic paper and print yourself. This is acceptable too.

If you are calling in person to the passport office, and if there happens to be a problem with it, you can use the machine they have there and they will keep the 'dodgy' garda signed photo. The machine in the passport office is not bad in that it allows you to position yourself with a self view kinda thing - not sure with a 3 month old how you'd get on but, then again, he/she may be a model in the making! I think €6 for 4 prints.

    Cheers.

There's a tiny tool you can run on a file if you don't want messing around with Photoshop yourself. It takes a jpeg file and give you a 6x4 jpeg with 6 or so passport photos that you can print for 50c or so anywhere.

    http://www.fourmilab.ch/netpbm/passport_photo/

There's a website that does the same for free - upload picture, select crop and they will give you a jpeg - can't find it now...

    Good luck!

    PS: Got it - http://www.epassportphoto.com/

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm thinking as time is tight I won't risk it and instead I'll try and track down a chemist who will take baby passport photos. I'll head into the passport office myself and if there's a problem I can use my re-sized photoshop versions instead :D
