Ok so i have plenty of aegs already but i want something of better quality and accurate with decent range that won't break the bank. I'm building up a sort of terrorist style loadout so M4's etc probably won't work... Any recommendations?

What's the best AEG? it's a bit like asking what's the best anything... asking a million people and you'll get a million different answers...

something terrorist style eh... i've heard the cyma ak is very good

yea a Cyma AK is a good option. Perhaps one of the new Jg Sig 551's or 550 might intrigue ya. Ofcourse theirs not much info about em yet but one can assume that they'l turn out good.

That makes sense actually, nice idea makes life easier!

Terrorist style, hmm. Well terrorists would generally imply bad people. And when I think about bad people FAL lovers come to mind so maybe one of those?

Failing that, anything Israeli. They seem more and more popular in recent years. And the Tavor (MTAR) is a damn stylish rifle too.

tried and trusted ak74, join the Madrai and ask their opinion, mostly (all?) ak based loadouts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Alvin T. Grey

    CA do a Skorpian

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 176 ✭✭Necron99

Terrorist style weapon huh well between the FN FAL & the AK series
    Failing that, anything Israeli.
I give you the IMI Galil - "Gentlemen welcome to flavour country"
    http://world.guns.ru/assault/as23-e.htm
    http://www.mfiap.com/airsoft/galilarm.htm

Although the only problem is finding a reputable airsoft company that still makes them :(
I for one looked for about 20 seconds on the search engine... 10 seconds longer than usual lol ;)

Depends on your 'loadout', I'd say.

Asian or 'MEC' perp = some form of AK

African perp = G3 or FAL

East European perp = Skorpion (but not so good on range?)

West European perp = something German (G3 SAS maybe? Or maybe even a Steyr - perps had'em in Die Hard ;))

CYMA AK 47s are over one joule, that's why Shiva doesn't sell them, I'm pretty sure the ones he does sell i.e. the Army AK and the Cyma AK 74 are all under the joule, otherwise he wouldn't be selling them.

So if you're after an AK for a Terrorist load out I'd recommend the Army AK 47 for the traditional look, or the AK 74 for a more modern terrorist load out. Alternaltively you could see if somewhere will downgrade a Cyma AK 47 before sending it over.

There's always CA and TM who do AKs that fire under the joule too. Bit more pricey, but the TM AK 47 is supposed to be one of the most reliable airsoft guns ever released.

I think i'll go for the 74 now, i hear it's compatable with most brands of magazine. Also who are the Madrai? I feel like an awful noob sometimes......

Lots of baddies use the G36C, why don't you?

Dual wielded M11a1s, M16a2, thompson, you could even use the JG dragunov and be a sniper ( make sure to extend the inner barrel and to leave it on semi) basically any model that has been out of regular circulation for some years will generally find its ways into the hands of terrorists. I mean they even recoverd 2 L85s in Limerick. Basically i think that your clothing and webbing choice will identify you more as a terrorist.

On an aside do people think that its a good idea to bandy the T word around on boards? its just that well if we're trying to create a good image i don't think that talking about what could be concieved as a homage to terrorism is the best way to go about it.

That said i personally think the loadout is a great idea it'll be fairly unique and has a lot of room for experimentation best of luck to ya with it mate.

I wouldn't say it is a good idea to bandy the T word around on here, it being a public forum and all and people being as they are (i.e. quick to judge and so forth).

I think we all understand the type of load out he's going for though, and to be fair someone dressed as non-regular army person is hardly more offensive than someone dressed in a particular army's load out, if it were to go down the lines of wearing emblems or patches of a particular organisation then it might be a bit much, but we've had that debate before anyway.

Cheers, i just figured i'd go for something a bit different, a draganov i would love but from what i see airsoft sniping isn't exactly the best fun :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

you dont need to be a sniper just coz you have a draganov. it can be used full auto. just convert an ak74 or 47.

check out the hrta thread. fiach dubh has the link to his site in his sig i think.

I totally agree. Guys, it light of the proccedings over the last couple of days T4BB, several radio programmes and a couple of newspaper articles. Would it not be prudent to stop bandying that term around..?? there are people out there just looking for excuses to bury this sport, and you lot are just giving them nails!! If you can't think of anything else to use as a discription for this individual loadout whynot use the term "Tango" jeez lads certain "T" words are flagged, i'm sure you all know what I mean by this and I'm just a Joesoap and I've spotted it 3 or 4 times already!! on the same forum!! :

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

we should need to though thats the thing. terrorists are a part of war, and airsoft is a wargame. it would be a bit nieve to think that the good guys dressed like us soldiers are fighting against other us soldiers or english soldiers. the very nature of the sport gives need for this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

this is true, and make sense to you and me, but to the casual observer looking at this forum due to all the hype lately.....what do you reckon?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

to the casual observer no matter what phrase you use it will all be the same. and in actual fact i would imagine the casual observer would appritiate the fact that it is a wargame and war does have good guys and bad guys and terrorists and all kinds of everything.
The people who would kick up a fuss are the people who no matter what, have already made up their minds and have no intentions of changing them no matter wha word we use. this was the same thing that happened months ago when people gave out about the use of the word gun even though on the box it has the word gun on it. we went though a million and one differant names yet airsoft gun is what they are.

Just realised how off topic this is so apologies to zero19. thought iceage was you for a few mins there

Only if it's the JG AK SVD. A proper Dragunov SVD is semi auto such as the Kings Arms or AtoZ SVD. But even with a semi version you don't need to be a sniper, the Dragunov was dsigned as a squad marksmans rifle, marksman stay with the squad and provide a more accurate fire base to tag enemy machine gun operators, squad leaders, etc. This tactic applies very much to Airsoft games.

Sorry Zero, just noticed your post now. If you have any questions about the AK74 feel free to PM me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

what i ment was if he was to get an ak47 or ak74 and a conversion kit he would still have the full auto and yet also the look of the dragnov

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

You'd really be better off going with the AtoZ Dragunov as it's only about 300 euro. An AK converted to a dragunov actually has very little in looks that resemble the real SVD. I do get what you're saying about the full auto thing but if he wanted a full auto rifle he'd be better off with a VFC AK74 and a Russian PSO-1 4X scope. With that setup he'd be able to fullfill both squad marksman and assault roles, the SVD is far too big for CQB at 48" long.

I think the 74 will suit better for the moment, I've seen good reviews of Cyma's version and it's cheap as chips (bought way too much stuff lately!) Thanks guys!
