I am spending a few days in Nice over new years and am hoping to meet up with some friends after in Chamonix. I have been searching for travel options but have come up agains a brick wall. make your way to grenoble or annecy by train or bus and then from there you'll have buses going to chamonix. The quickest though is probably to rent a car and drive there, it would be a 4 to 5 hour drive
