Up to a 2 year ban and €1000 fine.

For a second or subsequent charge of no insurance there is a risk of a prison sentence. Judges invariably hate people who drive while uninsured, and you are more likely, in my view, to get a month in mountjoy for repeated no insurance than you are for repeated theft, assault (s.2) or public order offences.

Trust me unless you have a sex change and go to the female prison, you do not want to be heading in there. Apart from the smell of the place the cells are awfully small and pokey, chokey etc.
