First of all, sorry if this has already been discussed. Got a letter from An Post saying we have no tv licence and that we have to get one. Can I wait until an inspector knocks on the door and buy one afterwards (happened before in a different house and he gave us two weeks grace to get one) or do I really really absolutely need to get one now? Bloody letter had 'the occupant' on it so can't plead ignorance :( Thanks in advance.

As you are aware the charter precludes members from giving legal advice, However I might skirt the charter policy and suggest that "you dont Buy a Tv licence " obviously i cannot divulge my reasoning for this although this will ensure that the matter will rectify itself in a comptent and fair way.

do I really really absolutely need to get one now?

If you don't get one right away, RTE will not be able to pay an exorbitant amount of money for the next unfunny comedian's hair brained idea about a great new show for all the family.

Plus, if you don't pay it your favourite fair city character will become a junkie and die.

Ah the civil service Privatise them I say and lets be done with it for once and for all.

Reminds me of the Aer Lingus Shannon non-story.

Careful now, you might put some legal professionals out of some bread and butter.

There will always be work for them on here Victor e.g. deciding the very legal matter in relation to the odds of buying/not buying a 160 euro licence vs. getting caught/not getting caught :D
