SkyHD Issues - FF/Rewind / Noisy Box / Etc

Had Sky+, but went the HD route over the last few weeks with a box off eBay. In terms of picture quality for the HD stuff love it, however there are a few issues which I think have been highlighted in various other posts i.e.

    - box is quite noisy
    - FF/Rewind seems isn't as good as Sky+ (jumps mins ahead when FF'ing?)
    - Freezes up a bit on occassion when switching between 2 recorded programs
    - etc..

Anyone know if there is gonna be any fixes for these issues ? Or if there is any workarounds?

    Thanks in advance.

I have all the same problems except the noisy box. The skipping forward is a pain in the arse. When I had Sky+ I could stop the FF or RW near enough to where I wanted because I could see where abouts the video was, but now it jumps forward when I want to rewind.

I also have problems with sound lag on HD channels, Sky have been out and changed the box but its still the same.

The FF issue has been with sky HD from day one and they don't seem too keen to fix it via firmware updates.

What is the issue? I've never noticed any problems with fast forward or rewind..

Box has never frozen on me either.

And as for the noise.. you must have a duff box.. you can hear the fan in mine for about 5 seconds on boot, but after that it is completely silent...

By noisy, I meant the fan was more noticeable than when I had Sky+.

The issue with FF for me anyway is, when you go beyond +6, it can just jump ahead on you and you don't end up stopping just as a programme restarts after an advert break. It really jumps and skips through the video, and is hard to keep track as compared to when I had Sky+.

Guess a its a SkyHD "feature" so.............

I have the same problem with my HB box. Also some recordings will not play at all. I much prefer the Sky + box which I have in my other living room.

I've had SKY HD since it started. The Thomson box is noisier than my Pace SKY+. It has all the problems mentioned - jerky FF, freezes, failed recordings, will switch off on occasions. SKY have only released one or two firmware updates and don't seem to be in a rush to fix these issues. The picture quality is great on HD (and seems to be better on SD than the SKY+ box, even on SCART), but overall I'm not sure its worth the extra monthly rental .....
