There I was last night, stripping the chrome off the forks of my YZR 500, and I was using a device I have never used before, a fiber glass pen. It did a great job, but after using it i could feel little fibers stuck in my skin. Not a nice feeling. I remember years ago working in company that weaves fiberglass and carbon sheeting, and the resident expert telling us that the fibers wont go through your skin, or that they are too big to breathe in... but i was never convinced. The pen is now in the bin....
Anyway it got me thinking, as us modelers use some fairly dodgy substances etc, do we take the correct steps to ensure our health?
I know Im not too bad. I use a mask when airbrushing, I wear eye protection when using the likes of a minidrill or a model knife,. But about the only time I would wear gloves would be when putting glow fuel into a model (with a harry rag in me mouth ..jokin)
Like when you look at some of the glues, fillers, paint, fuel or the tools we use, I mean we should really think about it!... shouldnt we??
So what about the rest of yis? Are ye safe, or do you really love the smell of cellulose thinners in the morning???:D

    LOL
the only protection I use when using aerosols is stretching my arm as far as it will go and hold my breat for as long as I can :D

As for nitro.. I usually end up spilling more on my hands than anywhere else

    Eye protection??
Keep your eyes closed when drilling / grinding..

So now you probably guessed my style..
    No Protection whatsoever :D

Does taking a wiff of superglue when Im working with it count as any not safe action such as solvent abuse?

I'm off to get some poppers for the use above, and no other! Duuurthy.
