Gotta say, I was never the biggest MK fan. Always found the controls a bit pants and it tried to make up for that by being as bloody as possible. Fun, but nowhere near the level of Street Fighter.

However! I'm just after getting my hands on this now and it's quite a lot of fun. The player animations look really really nice on the small screen. They have a crisp sharp look to them. Controls aren't half bad either.

It doesn't really take full advantage of the dual screens or touch pad. Bottom screen is the fighters etc and the top has a list of all their moves. Which is actually handy enough for when you cant remember the combo to do a fatality.

It also has wireless functions  DS to DS and online. Which I am going to try out in a few minutes.

And before you ask, no, the blood hasn't been removed ;)

Yeah, after Dementium, its the second M rated game in a month.... Nintendo shedding their kiddie image.. :)

I had a quick go last night, and got my ass handed to me (even on novice level). I'm not a huge fan of fighters, but this is really well done (and the move list is very very handy).

Give me a decent capcom beat'em up. Always fond MK3 and Ultimate MK3 to be absolute steaming heaps of crap.

Was waiting to see how long it would take for you to appear :p

There aren't any Capcom beat'em ups on the DS. If there were, I'd be playing them instead of this.

The only other decent beat 'em ups I've come across for it are Jump Ultimate Stars and Jump Super Stars. Both import only and heavy enough in Japanese for most people to get pretty pissed off playing. Which is a damn shame as they're great games.

Meh, it's better than I remember MK games being. Well..until I kept getting my arse kicked by Sub Zero and turned the game off in a huff.

I was shocked to see they kept the blood and fatalities in but not complaining :D Its class they have the moves at the top of the page and online play as well which I have not even tried yet.
Did any of you guys get Contra 4 on the Ds? it is class and nice and hard been playing it all day.

Been eager to get my hands on this since I heard about it being released. Should hopefully have it in the next few days.

It better live up to my high expectations! *shakes a fist*

edit: Well look at that, it came faster than I expected ;) So far so good. Grappling hook!

You must have the same postman as me :D The grappling hook kicks ass.
I am playing it on normal mode and its pretty darn hard there is bullets flying all over the place
Think it could be a while before I complete this.

I'm playing it on Novice and I'm finding it rock hard (even with 10 lives).

    I'm old.

You should be more experienced then Mr E :D It is very hard though I don't remember the original ones being so difficult.

Have to give contra a go. Was off my radar when I heard Team Jirushi weren't behind this one. I'll be the judge on wether it's hard enough, I've beat Contra Hard Corp and Shattered Soldier, two of the toughest games ever.

Well I have. I love torturing myself with rock hard contra games :) They aren't as hard as people say they are (anyone that needs the 30 lives cheats disgusts me) and they don't get great reviews because people these days because people just aren't used to that sort of difficulty these days.

You can't even learn patterns with this one (like regular shooters). The moving enemies are so random, like the little
    face hugger
    b**tards on level 2. :)
