Intel vs AMD (notebook)

I'm sure this sort of question has been raised a load of times but I was wondering what processer would be better for a notebook?

I saw two similar notebooks (same brand & specs), one had an AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core with a clock speed of 2.6GHz and the other had a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7300 with a clock speed of 2GHz. (Btw the Intel was slightly more expensive then the AMD).

Obviously the AMD was faster but Intel are known to build better (more reliable even) processers.

    Which one would you choose?

Both processors are as reliable as each other. The core 2 duo are more efficient processor though, consume less energy and produce less heat.

Clock for clock the core 2 duo is much better and will outperform a turion that runs faster than it.

I would go with the core 2 duo, it is a much better cpu.

2nd that but the AMD is also very good, like you wouldn't be dissapointed with it and it is cheaper so if your trying to save cash...

amd is good bit cheaper too and for most people, its very powerful. Thing is vista etc is slowing things down anyway so processor isn't the big issue for normal consumers

Core 2 Duo is better and will offer you better battery life and less heat. In terms of raw power, you won't notice any difference however, it's more the side effects of the processors then their actual power you need to worry about. The clock speeds don't relay a correct picture either, C2D is faster per clock.

Intel = Performance (relative to all laptop uses, in all aspects eg heat, battery life, etc) at the moment, AMD = budget (typically cheaper while still offering powerful performance, but pumps out more heat and poorer battery).

Thanks for all the info, I was leaning more towards the Intel processor anyway but your responses made my mind up me.

The only other thing is that even though both notebooks have the same HHD, RAM, graphics card etc, they come with different versions of Vista. The AMD comes with Vista Premium and the Intel comes with Vista Business. But I'm sure they are relativity the same anyway.

    Thanks again!

I would point out, the Dell vostro 1000 with AMD Athlon (not turion)x64 i got a few months back with a 9 cell battery gives me over 7 hours battery life (constant wi-fi internet use). While this will degrade over time it should not go below 5 hours.
