Is there any point in upgrading ?, It would cost me 250 yoyos, would I see any improvement in gaming ?, is it still the case that most games / apps don't see multicores so they just sit there idle, sorry if it's been asked before

The difference in gaming would be absolutely minimal at best, negligible in most cases. Not worth it for gaming going from any core 2 duo at the moment. For multi-tasking though, depending on how heavy a user you are, would make a difference.

Most games are not quad core optimized, and even the very select few that are offer very little benefit going beyond two cores.
