Aerial Setup

I am located in South Dublin around 1 mile east of threerock and have a televes dat 75 pointed to Divis in the North which gives me good reception on the UK channels with channel 5 even watchable alot of the time.

As my aerial direction is perpendicular to the strong signal from Threerock the reception is ghosted, jumpy and usually unwatchable. Therefore, I get my Irish channels from clermont carn. While this signal is much better and is a sharp picture it is often jumpy and sometimes unwatchable. I presume this is due to the signal being veretically polarized from this transmitter

I am looking for a setup for getting my Irish channels as clear as I get the UK channels? Is there any way I can keep my DAT75 as it is and use an other smaller aerial to get the Irish channels or will I just get extreme ghosting and interference? Can I use various devices to split the parts of the UHF band coming from each aerial in a way to allow me to receive all of the channels I want? RTE in Group A positions on Threerock would probably mean that the second aerial would need to be bigger and pointed at clermont carn?? It seems a shame not to be able to make use of Threerock! Is it even feasable to split the UHF band? I dont know what splitters or what is available?

If I had a Group A horizontal aerial for Divis could I point a vertically polarized grouped aerial at Clermont carn and receive signals clearly from both? I would however sooner avoid having to disgard my DAT75 if possible!

Any suggestions on this are welcome!!!

There is a device called a group combiner

With it you can combine signals from two aerials (as long as the channels used by the transmitters you want dont overlap)

For Divis/Blackmountain The channel range is 21 up to 37 (or 48 if using freeview)

For Claremont the channel range is 52-68

Simply get a group combiner with two inputs (one for 21-48 the other for 52-68) connect your BBC aerial to the 21-48 input and your RTE aerial to the 52-68 input and you shouls have all the channels

    Thanks for that!
Any one got any idea what UHF channels the final or future dual running Irish DTT will use from Clermont Carn? Is it likely to be the same as the trials which seem to be inside the same group?

I have a televes Margin Rising Device on my DAT75 with a televes power supply.

If I put a combiner on the cable with a second aerial will this cause problems and reduce the signal from the original aerial?

Will the existing 12 volt power supply power some sort of mast head amp for the second aerial as well or is this necessary?
