    A Chairde,

I booked a flight for Saturday Dublin - London - Toronto thru ebookers, and put my abbreviated first name on the ticket, I forgot the name on ticket had to be name on passport.

The abbreviated name is 4 digits out from full name, what actions would be wise, as I asked ebookers , and they said cancel and rebook ....

If by cancelling it you don't get the money back then i wouldn't do that. You can pay to change your name on a ticket which may work out cheaper. If you can get a full refund when you cancel your ticket I'd definitely do that and then rebook.

Phone the airline you are flying with, they should have a desk in Dublin
    airport.

If it's a case of the name on the ticket being something like Pat/Joe/Dan and the name on the passport being listed as Patrick/Joseph/Daniel you should be fine. Airlines deal with that everyday without issue

I regularly put Ray on my flight bookings despite Raymond on my passport.
    Never any questions asked.

    Thanks for all the replies,

Will go to BA desk in Dublin Airport tonight to sort out.

As e-Tickets were issued, they cannot change name !!, so cancellation for BT flight is 100 euro, and e-Bookers is 45 euro, it will take 6-8 weeks to get money refunded .....

Get back to you with outcome.

Don't cancel it. BA are usually ok to deal with so you wont be screwed there.

I don't think you will have any problems with the name issue. The Canadians are nowhere near as paranoid as the Yankees :)

Just be aware the British Airways don’t have a desk at Dublin Airport. They use a handling agent called “Aviance”. They are located near the bottom left, close to the Bank of Ireland.

My experience of Aviance DUB-LHR-Montreal 2 weeks ago was very poor and they don’t seem to care. There answer to everything was, wait until you get to Heathrow and sort it out there

Take note: Some peculiarities of BA from Dublin on an EI flight… you can on-line checkin for the LHR onwards flight, but not DUB-LHR… silly and I couldn’t get an answer as to why. Plus, you cannot use the BA self service machines for DUB-LHR checkin, even though it’s a BA ticket all the way… you have to use the Aer Lingus self service machine for the DUB-LHR, but your cant use Aer Lingus on-line checkin. Strange...
