i hav'nt smoked yet today and i have been smoking for the last 12 years and to be honest right now i am like a bear with a sore head and im just waiting to snap at anybody! iv decided to post here because you guys have had plenty of experience in giving it up and i just thought it would help to know others are trying too.

has anybody had any success with these tablets???

I off them five days with champix been tough but doable, three other people in my work are using them one has been 8 weeks off the smokes. Your supposed to be on the meds at least 8 days and max 14 days before your stop date. As you need some time for them to build up in your system, were you not given an information sheet with them? Anyway if you still haven't smoked best of luck with it.

I'm hoping you didn't crack under pressure and have one with drink.

I knw how hard it is, so I do sympathise if you did.
However, you are only letting yourself down.

If you resisted, then fair play to you and you are an inspiration to many.

Stevoman, to give yourself the best chance possible, I think it's best to follow the instructions for taking the tablets. I'm sure somebody else would be able to explain it better but the tablets need to build up in your system to work. The way it was explained to me by the chemist is that the tablets basically close off the receptor in the brain that says "I want more nicotine". But the tablets take a few days to close it off! That's why it is recommended you smoke for the first 8 days or so. I used Champix and I'm 7 months off the cigarettes today! Still can't believe I've stayed off them this long. The tablets definitly work but you still have to do a bit of work yourself to stay off them but the tablets make your bit of work easier to do. Best of luck!
