Will fax machine purchased in England work in Ireland?

If I purchase a fax machine from a seller in England on eBay will the fax machine have any problems connecting to a phone socket here?

Would it work just as normal, or might there be any functioning problems?

The telephone line connector is physically different if it's a UK model - but you can easily get an adaptor.

Would there any other reasons which would affect a UK model of fax machine working in Ireland?

If only the plug is different, I suppose I would be able to buy one of the apaptors you mentioned on eBay.

MAKE SURE
that the BT -> RJ11 adaptor has a capacitor, or else the fax will never ring/answer calls.

Argos has the proper ones as all their phones are UK type.

Most of the cheap adaptors don't work as they assume a BT master socket (no capacitor in adaptor as it is in the BT master socket).

Don't buy it on eBay.

You wont! It should work fine zoe. Either it will work with standard rj11 lead (irish) or you may need to get the adaptor but any good electrical store will stock the BT to RJ11 convertor.
