As someone who uses dublin buses ALL the time (unfortunately) there is one thing that REALLY annoys me about them.

When your getting on the bus and the ticket machine isnt working, (some) drivers just say nothing.some put a little bit of paper over where you put your card in so that people automatically see that they cant put their card in and thats ideal but other drivers just leave it and say nothing.

On the bus the other day I was sitting right up beside the driver and got so frustated seeing people getting on and sticking their cards in, waiting for a few moments, looking very confuse and THEN noticing that it says its broken up on the screen where people barely look at.And all this happening while the driver is sitting there just staring at them. WHY DON'T THEY JUST SAY "ITS BROKEN"??

Because they're mute you inconsiderate wench. Its part of Dublin Bus policy to promote the hiring of the differently abled.

    You disgust me.

For them to say that it would have to be Union mandated and Dublin Bus would have to provide every driver with compensation as it's a change in work practice:D

They secretly think it is amusing? I am only guessing here.

They would have to talk to the union to see if they are aloud say that - And dont talk to loud; those guys that put the paper on the machine would be shunned from the union because it's not part of their job description.

So because people are too lazy and/or stupid to read the screen thats on the front of th emachine to provide them with vital information(such as "out of order") the driver should repeat "it's broken" to every passenger while also dealing with cash payers?

Sitting there all day repeating "It's broken" over and over and over again. That would piss me right off and after a while I just wouldn't bother. If it says it on the machine then they can read it and that's fine.

ok sorry i change it to-why dont they just stick a little sticker over where you put your card in like some drivers do.

Its just slowing them down as some people actually attempt to put their card in a few times, not realising why it hasnt gone in right the first time, may seem stupid i know but honestly people dont look at what it says on the little screen, most people even just reach their hand on ahead of them and put the card in without even looking.

Its just slowing the whole bus journey down so i don't know how it doesnt annoy them!

why would they care how long the journey takes them? unless they're getting paid per journey which i'm pretty sure they're not, then it makes no difference to them...

if the general public weren't such idiots then there'd be no problems....

i dont see how not noticing that "out of service" is typed in a small box makes someone an idiot but thats just my opinion.

and i may well be wrong(and im sure someone will put me right) but someone once told me that their shifts dont necessarily work on a time basis.thay always finish up their shift at the same place dont they?they cant just leave their bus at any random busstop just because its six o clock or whatever time their shift ends....so if they're running behind time and they're late which in dublin traffic im sure happens alot wouldn't they want to get around their route as fast as possible?
