Just gettin into airsoft . After some research thinking of getting a D-BOYS M4 CQB for my first , what do ye think ? I m in Cork ,from what I can guess there is no venue as such or much of a scene in Cork- is this correct ? Was in the shop selling stuff in Marlboro st. today and they couldnt tell me diddly squat about their stock . Very professional ! Anyway any advice or info would be greatly appreciated .

Welcome to the forum and airsoft.

The d-boys m4 is a good purchase but don't buy from any of those high street stores. They (mostly) sell overpriced crap that won't last very long before breaking.

Three local Irish retailers that you can trust are www.eirsoft.ie, www.ballymountfs.com (now renamed MIA Airsoft) and AirsoftEire.com

I'd suggest having a browse through the stickies. They contain a lot of useful information and should answer most questions that you may have about airsoft.

As for skirmish sites, there is a growing number of airsofters in Cork. It's only a matter of time before a site opens up nearby. For the moment, the sites are in the east of the country only near Dublin.

My introduction to airsoft was by mistake when I wandered
into a shop in Cork that sold me an Cyma MP5 for double
the price of what I would pay via the guts that sell stuff
    online here.

My advise stay away from the current shops in Cork and
buy from one of the online dealers here on the boards.

Ditto.. read the beginners stuff guys, piles of info and as for puchasing, you can't beat eirsoft.ie and the other for service, altough i'm sure they have very little left after bigboysplayingwiththeirtoys in dublin at the weekend

I own a D BOY M4 A1 myself, nice piece of kit that for a starter, if you do decide to pick one up consider spare mags and possibly a spare batttery as well, it'll be well worthi it in the future...

the stock hi-cap that comes with the dboys is useless to be honest, chuck it in the bin and pick up a box of 8 mid caps instead, you'll be much happier

Well technically, everything outside Dublin is just wilderness and mostly unpopulated. So....it's all just one big skirmish site.

Thanks for the advice . Think I will go with the M4 alright from eirsoft . Will the midcaps on there for M4 do the trick ? Read stickies - v informative . Down my way airsoft guns are the BIG thing for Christmas this year . Every Tom Dick and Harry will be running around shooting the neighbours cat .I think for what its worth that its only a matter of time before the politically correct extremists in this country really lock there jaws around the subject of airsoft . Going public is I think the way to go . Open peoples eyes to whats really involved as a sport . Ignorance breeds contempt . WORD IS OUT ! and if people dont try to educate the public it will probably be banned completely . The government here would probably love to lead the way in Europe by being the first to ban outright . Later
