Right im a bit of a fan of getting crappy guns and makeing something of them like the m14 i have with the paint job, new motor, new barell, new air piston, new air valve, new hop_up,new bushings for the motor.

Here is my new Project the much criticised jg ak svd dragunov-ish.
As i have only just bought the ak and do not have it in my possion I need a good minded person who owns one to give me some info please.
    1/ lenth of barell

2/ does it require a new air seal or new cylinder or cylinder head.

3/does it require new bushings in the motor are they 6mm or 8 mm

4/will it require a upgrade of hopup

5/ whats the battery and electrics like.

6/ what mounting for a scope does this ak take.

7/is it worth makeing a whole new bipod for the gun as the one provided seems like crap in the pic.

Thank you for all the help given but as this is my first ak im not sure of the standard of the model.

What make is the AK you bought? I'm not at all familiar with the ARMY or JG AKs (I presume its a clone AK) but I do have the CYMA AK-47S so I could perhaps answer some of your questions. I think that both the CYMA and JG AKs are Marui clones, in which case the brushings in the gearbox are 6mm.

The hop up on mine is fine, although I do find that at any setting except only a very slight hop the bbs will curve up at the end of their flight. Not sure if that's just my AK of if that's what happens with all CYMA models, still has good range and accuracy, plus I think the fact that you can adjust the hop to shoot bbs up peoples noses is a great feature ;)

The electrics are cheap, as you might expect. I have the folding stock version though, so on a full stock it would be wired slightly differently. The battery is garbage, you'll definatley need to get a decent one.

The airseal, cylinder and cylinder head all seemed decent enough to me, but then I wouldn't know a good cylinder head from a bad one so perhaps I'm not the best judge.

I have/had a JG SVD, it's now in pieces with some parts on other AEG's. Are you looking to keep it as a sniper rifle and just make it closer to the mark or change it to something else?

Length of barrel? Inner or outer barrel?

Does it require a new air seal or new cylinder or cylinder head. Air seal and cylinder were ok on mine didn't notice any air leak.

Does it require new bushings in the motor are they 6mm or 8 mm The bushings are nylon so if you did want to replace them with metal ones you'll need 6mm bushings.

Will it require a upgrade of hopup Yes, the hop-up isn't great. An Element hop will be much better and is quite cheap.

Whats the battery and electrics like. The battery is quite crappy, not as good as the batteries in newer JG's. The wiring isn't too bad although the insulation can take damage from the receiver cover if you aren't carefull putting it on.

What mounting for a scope does this ak take. You have two options, one is to get an AK receiver cover with a 20mm rail attached, a quick option but not very authentic looking. Your second option is to get an AK side rail that needs to be bolted to the left side reciever, with that installed you can attach Russian optics directly or western optics with an adapter. RSOV have CYMA AK rails for cheap. I'd advise picking up the Element metal AK47 receiver from RSOV too, again quite cheap.

Is it worth makeing a whole new bipod for the gun as the one provided seems like crap in the pic.
The bipod you get with it is an RPK47 bipod not a Dragunov SVD one at all, the SVD bipod attaches just in front of the foregrip under the gas tube. You could get an AK bipod that'll be much closer to the mark. I'll buy your old bipod if you're selling it ;)

If you have more questions work away :)
