myself and a friend were in eamonn doran's last night
we only stayed for 2 pints, i still have the receipt:

    Becks Pint : 5.70
    Pint Guinness : 5.20

how the hell can they justify this for a watered down pint of becks and horrible pint of guinness??

and this was upstairs, from what i can remember its even more expensive downstairs

They have your money. Why would they want to justify anything?

The price should be displayed as you go in.

What time was it? I know some bump up prices instead of a cover charge. I am not sure what happens with the "displayed price law" in this case

it was at about half 10.
it was free in upstairs and a fiver in downstairs, but there was nothing on upstairs anyway

Places that charge different prices at different times generally have two-column price lists. If at any time they're displaying a price lower than what they're charging then they're breaking the law.

I don't know the bar in question.

However, I don't mind paying more for a drink if it means a better environment to enjoy it in. If the drink is crap then send it back, regardless of the price.

Depending on your age you might know it as "the rock garden". It is in temple bar opposite the bad ass cafe, near the square, down from central bank.

I am surprised at the price, I was there maybe 6 months ago and prices were normal, if not cheap for town.

The place is not done up much at all.

Cheers rubadub, in that case I'd just avoid it.

Doran's has always been expensive, once they hit the 5 euro mark I started to avoid them except for good gigs. Karma up at Handles hotel is quite good, decent prices (pints of erdingeer for 4.20 last time I visited), mostly quiet (you do get the paddy wagon dumping a ton of people in there one or two nights of the week) and a nice interior that "looks like a chinese whore house"
