yours, if you want, but what are your favourite (or top your shortlist) photos?
may as well limit it to three.

i love this one, chez mondrian by andre kertesz:

    kertesz11.jpg

and this one, linked cos it's almost 5MP; it's a gregory crewdson shot
    http://www.fotomuseum.ch/presse/0606_GC/04.BeneathTheRoses,300dpi.jpg

and this shot was plastered around london on huge posters when i was there a few years back; it was phenomenally attention grabbing. loses impact at this small size. called charlotte, by adri berger:

Magic , i find that one of Charlotte freaky , what was the idea behind it -- ? eating disorders ?

oh for me -- so much of Cartiers work , can't pick one piece -- nearly anything

Why disturbing? 'Cos of the freckles?

I remember seeing this in the competition book a few years ago.

if you want to win a photo comp, schweppes is one of the most highly regarded; but they charge to enter. STG£15k first prize, though.

the skeletal look -- don't get me wrong its a very strong image -- but i find that anorexic look , a little freaky

I can't find my fav image online, it's a pretty famous one, it's a photo of 3 soldiers hiding behind a wall of debris, and they're dwarfed by this huge explosion in the background, the soldiers are huddled up in the bottom right corner, i know it's from one of the Magnum photographers.

I came across the work of Andrew Ilachinski when I was browsing around.

    _MG_1609.jpg

This is typical of his stuff, he's interested in complexity and emergence and other physicsy stuff. As of right now, it would rank up there amongst my very favourite images. It's hard to say why.

Wow, some of those are fantastic. This one reminds me of a Constable painting (the Haywain or something?)

I was always under the impression it was a lady (Rarindra Prakarsa that is). Those shots always catch the eye on photo.net

Another shot that I would class as one of my favourites at the moment... let's see if I can find it...

I cant seem to post the image directly, which is a shame

But do some of them not look like they have left the realms of reality and crosses into over-photoshoppery? I'll agree they are quite good but there is something that looks quite fake about them?

Steyr, I think you missed the point of this thread. Welcome to the forum though!

I came across exhibitions of the following two landscape photographers when in America a few months ago and enjoyed looking at their photos

    Peter Lik
"As a completely self-taught artist, master photographer Peter Lik started in Australia and soon expanded his vision worldwide. Huge panoramic photographs of landscapes showcase the brilliant colors and elegant, spiritual terrain in Nature. These images speak for themselves and leave the casual viewer breathless"

    http://www.peterlik.com/home.html

    Rodney Lough
"Renowned for the vibrant colors and vivid textures of his wilderness and landscape photography, Rodney is a purist who captures what nature creates, using no color filters or darkroom deception."

he had a problem configuring the God Ray plug-in :D.
I'm generally a big fan of the rays, but that just overdoing it...

I suppose it's all down to preference. I can show this to my friend who would think these are amazing, yet another friend wouldn't like them because they're too photoshopped:rolleyes:

This older IR of mine has really grown on me in the last week or so:

    400994063_97e8814886.jpg

To explain it a little, this is a particular tree on a hill in Oranmore, Galway, that I have previously photographed at length at different times of year.

Actually i think your wrong there, The OP magicbastarder said the following:

"yours, if you want, but what are your favourite (or top your shortlist) photos? may as well limit it to three."

So im well within the confines of this Topic as i have posted 3 of "MY" favourite pictures that i have taken.

    PS Thanks for the Welcome.

i was watching in the shadow of the moon the other night, and saw this photo on it; it's a photo charlie duke took on the apollo 16 mission, of a family photograph he left on the surface of the moon. i'd love to get this in a decent sized print.

Years and years ago i bought Adore by the Smashing Pumpkins and in the album sleeve there were some fantastic photos.

This one always stuck in my head though, i lost the album and this is the first time i've found it on the internet, haven't seen it in years, too bad it's so small. It's most definitely one of my favourites though.

    band138.jpg

It was taken by Yelena Yemchuk who takes very dark gothic type photos. Unfortunately, this particular one isn't on her site.

but i may still buy the signed copy from the astronaut himself.

    Quite good?

They're friggin' masterpieces is what they are!

    :D

@thebaz, I'm really chuffed! Thanks for the compliment.

As for me, there's something really special about the BW work of Rui Palha from Portugal - his portraits and street photography are without parallel. Also a big fan of Miss Aniela and of course _rebekka, although she seems to have gone off the boil a bit recently. Up and commer Rebecca Finch is amazing.

Actually, if you look through Icelandic photographers, there seems to be whole bunch of them that are seriously talented - maybe it's all that sunlight during the arctic summer?

I have that as a poster. You can practically see the fear on the defender's faces when Maradona lines up the ball. Pure class.
