Sorry now for asking a stupid question but....

I recently moved house and got BBnet installed as my broadband provider. I know the guy who installs so lets just say his offer was too good to refuse! Anyhow I just got it hooked up to my main pc. They sell wireless routers but at €120 thats a bit steep. So I was having a look around an older office at work and come across an old eircom router. It is in mint condition - never been used still in box condition! It is a Netopia 3347NWG. Can I use this with my exisiting broadband connection or has Eicom got them locked in someway?! Know my way around a pc but when it comes to wireless etc I am lost!

    Thanks

That's a DSL modem, what you need is a wireless router. And they're certainly cheaper that €120! Look for the Linksys WRT54G. That should work for you.

3347NWG is a wireless router - should even have an aerial attached or in the box.
It's not the newest model but it's pretty ok.
Had it myself and was fine as opposed to linksys which was crushing every single day[as suggested to me due to overheating] :/
And as far as I know it's still fully supported by eircom.

Yea but it's a DSL modem, OP doesn't have DSL, he has fixed wireless so he needs a router that accepts RJ-45 (ethernet) input and not RJ-11 like the netopia.
