The IAA AGM is coming up sometime in the next month and one of the main issues which will be decided on the night is the voting of the committee members, the actual voting will take place on the night, but this thread is for anyone interested in a committee position to introduce themselves so that if they stand up on the night there wont be a sudden reaction of "who the hell is this guy/girl?"

This thread is to be kept absolutely 100% on-topic, if you want to discuss a particular person who is putting themselves forward, start another thread

Current positions (both filled and open) are:

    Chairperson (currently o1s1n)
    Vice-Chairperson (currently Hivemind187)
    Public Relations Officer (currently extremetaz)
    Secretary (currently N.O.I.P.)
    Legal Liaison (currently ambro25)
    Treasurer
    Community Liaison Officer

    Community Liaison Officer
Just to give you an idea of what this job is really about.

The Community Liaison officer is the point of contact for the Airsoft community in Ireland. Any player or member may approach the officer with ideas, comments, grievances etc and can expect to either recieve an answer there and then or for it to be brought to the attention of the the rest of the committee.

Since the community has developed online the main duties of the officer will be to intercept all information coming in via the boards forum, the various social networking groups (bebo, myspace etc) and the IAA's official webpage and eventual forums there.

As such, it will be essential for the candidate to have the requisite technical skills (html, wordpress, vbullentin etc) as well as social or soft skills such as information management and dispute resolution.

For further information please contact myself by PM.
    Treasurer
The Treasurer position is one of vital importance to the IAA. The right candidate will be responsible for controlling the incoming and outgoing monies from the IAA, organising bank accounts, publishing the annual accounts, dealing with the Revenue Commisson, advising on the solvency of the association and whether we can spend the pittance we do have.

The Treasurer wll also be responsible for advising the committee on its financial responsibilities (providing of accounts etc to the relevant authorities).

The right person must have strong mathematical skills, accountancy proficiency, a wide knoweldge of financial obligations and the ability to explain complex financial concepts to the techies and artsy types that make up the rest of the committee.
If there are any other positions you wish to suggest, please do so and give your reasons for them.

Position your interested in: Legal Liaison Officer

Reason(s) for your interest: Best opportunity to combine my favourite hobby/sport with my professional background and development

Relevant background information: I am legally qualified (note that I am not a sollicitor, however ), am currently the acting LLO pending IAA ratification and Committee elections, am about as cool as you can get under argumentative pressure, a born negotiator/conciliator ( I "put the diplomacy" in Libran characters :D) and *very importantly for this position* rational and unbiased/unemotional in the face of legal positions/quandaries

Level of commitment (hours per week): 4 hours, more as required (such as currently with media/legal-angle, the Constitution, and other tidbits)

Other: Though this position isn't as front-line as Chair/Vice-Chair/PRO, the level of accessibility to the appointee must remain very high to ensure suitable opinion/feedback/input can be provided before public communications are sent out. It calls for an all-encompassing grasp of any applicable legislation, meaning not just the CJB 2006, but also the DPA, the EU HR Bill, applicable non-statutory Common Law principles - and their relevance and application to both the IAA as an Organisation and its Members as individuals.

Position your interested in: Community Liaison Officer or Public Relations Officer

    Reason(s) for your interest:
I love talking to people and sharing knowledge, dismissing mythologies and fictions about topics. Hate seeing lies or false information passed on as fact. Enjoy debating in non-agressive fashion. Posses experiance and attitude i think required for dealing with press and or public.

Relevant background information: Have worked in niche retail environments for 5 years, on the front line. back ground in debating and media. Experianced sales (which translates to good at selling an idea or philosophy) and endless patience.

Level of commitment (hours per week):
5 hours (mon-fri, an hour every eveing to review and update information, but would work longer if need be), plus what ever is needed at weekend.

Other: I'm an affible person, make a good first impression and charmingly persuasive (if lacking in modesty!)

    Position your interested in: PRO

Reason(s) for your interest: It's what i can do

Relevant background information: Airsofting from the start, founder member of the IAA, high level of familiarity with the construction and capablilities of airsoft devices, high level of familiarity with the legal aspects of airsoft devices, ability to retain composure under pressure, all experience gained to date from the drafting of the IAA press release to representation of two radio shows to date. (RED FM and Radio 1)

Level of commitment (hours per week): Whatever I can, in the middle of my masters at the moment so spare time isn't what it could be but i'm managing.

Other: perhaps this post should be split into a team position of perhaps three people - this would almost guarantee that there would always be someone available for comment and would also lessen the workload. there's no wage involved anyway so if the support base is there, i think this is an option which should be considered.

Position your interested in: Assistant to PRO, IAA photographer, general dogs body. (I know this is not official position but I feel people should see what I’m about before I volunteer for this at the AGM.)

Reason(s) for your interest: Love airsoft and love photography. So taking photos to advance the sport in Ireland would be a privilege. And would be happy to do whatever work is required.

Relevant background information: Taking photos since I was a kid. And a keen airsofter. Have launched two websites.

Level of commitment (hours per week): As many hours as I can.

    Other: Any questions, PM me!!!

There might be a job on the "6mm" team. There will be a lot more detail at the AGM that I dont want to go into here. Suffice to say that we are planning a community magazine.

Position your interested in: The Community Liaison officer

Reason(s) for your interest: After skirmishing every weekend i saw the need for a representative body to inform others about the sport due to negative publicity, typical responses as well as genuine interest from colleagues. I have since been keen to get involved with the running of the IAA in order to get it up and running as quickly as possible, to prevent this sport from disappearing.

Relevant background information: Worked in IT for 5 years in various roles and have more than the technical ability needed. I have been trained in people management, conflict resolution and have 3 years in customer services.

Level of commitment (hours per week): I browse the forums and other sites hourly. So the question should probably be (days per week) :)

Other: I currently host the irishairsoft official website and have immediate access to responding to issue as i am at a PC from morning till night. I regularly marshal at HRTA, so people know me, and i have submitted ideas to improve the sport in the past.

Formally at the moment I would not be able to step forward into one of the positions above. However from the photography side you have and can have access to any airsoft and airsoft skirmish shots I take. I am also willing to talk to people/media/politicians about the sport as well. My background is in IT sales and I have no issues talking to people.

(I promise I won't mention the duct tape is good for dating comments!)

I know there are full fledged journos on here but I have some experience with article and periodical writing and editing from the SU paper back in college. I'm also pretty technical minded if you'd feel any pieces on airsoft tech and mech would be of any use, reviews of parts and the like.

I would like to be involved as much as possible but realistically, given that my location is in Limerick, and having little time or abililty to travel to Dublin or Galway for skirmish or a meeting, I would be ineffective in any of the official positions.

    Could I suggest something here.
    a membership secretery,
The role would take pressure off the other guys who are doing it,
said person would be responsible for setting up a post office box, replying to membership questions and requests and keeping the numbers up to date, making sure the fees are paid etc maybe its something to discuss on sunday
