AFAIK you can only get the proper GHD in Peter Marks, the rest are replicas. I only know this as I got one for my wife a while back :p

Balls, how much are they there? Are there any girls in Bargain Alerts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 204 ✭✭the_viper2kie

Bought one for my GF on www.hqhair.com after some searching. Was original one with free shipping and was 122euro a few years ago. Was cheaper than Peter Mark at the time. They also have lots of different box sets and things I think if its for a christmas present but you can just get the straightforward one too.
    Hope it helps...

    Bargain Alerts isn't a dating forum :D

Pink (cancer support) GHD was 199 in Peter Marks don't no if it had any extras.

Even Brown Thomas were accidently selling fakes a few years back

If you do a search for this item (GHD) on boards you'll find a a couple of threads back over the past 3 weeks and they mentioned an alternative called H2D http://www.h2d.co.uk/ which supposed to be better and cheaper. I don't know I get a #3 blade so that sorts the straightening out :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,428 ✭✭✭randombar

Ya but try and tell a girl that some random one is better than the ghd? I dunno could be scary!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,222 ✭✭✭cargo

don't worry, just tell her these ones will make her head look less fat :) (and then run v fast)

argos has lots of em , will she know difference between a proper ghd and just a straightner which is as good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 634 ✭✭✭IrishPhoenix

Get the GHD from Peter Mark's. That way you know it's genuine.

Placebo - Oh yes, she'll know. All girls with straighteners know. Do not bring that hell upon yourself.

That sounds pretty expensive? Its EUR 175 on ghd's website.

Right lads and lassies, how de hell do you know which is the "official" one and which are the fake ones? I mean there's a few "ghd" websites, reckon it'll have to be the ghd as girls value labels a lot more than quality :D

If you want a bit of background on the JHD, goto this thread, and look at my post:-

If the JHD are such good quality, how come the flex on them always breaks after about 12 months??

If the JHD are so good, and extremly expensive, how come no one fixes them??

Its all just marketing, peter marks are just selling cheap goods made and branded in china, and people have managed to convince them selves that they are good quality cause of the price... god i love marketing..

Yea they are only available through peter marks in Ireland, thats cause peter marks gets them made up in china in batches... by all accounts they are worth about €20, they also have the same type approvals & parts as many other dirt cheap hair strainers from china...

The problem is that they are bad quality, and when they break ( usually the flex goes ) there is no one who will repair them so women will go out and spend €170 on a new one...

You'd be best off buying a Remington or something like that, cause they are just as good, much better quality and reasonable value...

Although most women go mad for GHD's, its just all down to marketing (same as Ipods in the early days).... They are convinced cause they are €170 that they must be high quality and better than anything else anyone else makes... women will not believe that they are only worth about €20...

I get a big kick when i see the current ad in peter marks, they are selling a pink one with a pink towel...

Ohhh don't ask how i know the above information.... lets just say i had a friend who used to be in the business...

We'll see how it goes...... :D
