I've had a look through the Paypal User Agreement and can't find any mention of a limitation on the number of claims a buyer can file in any time period, though I'm sure I read before that there was a limit (something like max of 4 per year) but that could have been wrong.

It's a very simple process, just follow the instructions for filing a dispute. Give it a few days and if the seller doesn't reply then escalate it to a claim. Do this within 20 days of the dispute as after that it will close and you won't be able to take it any further.

No there is no limit to the number of claims that you make but if you go around opening claims on every purchase you make then you might be looked into further.

Jor_el, you are remembering correctly there. Under the old policy of eBay's Seller Protection Policy there was a maximum number of payouts that you were guaranteed in a 12 month period but this is no longer in place as that policy was upgraded (for want of a better word) to PayPal Buyer Protection and there is no limit on that.

    Hope that helps!

Aye, Buyer Protection is now e1000 too which was a nice update. PayPal tend to give the claimsmaker the benefit too and award the claim to the buyer if the seller doesn't respond or has deleted their account.
