New internal hard drive

    Hi.

    I think the hard drive in my laptop has reached its doom and needs replacing. The thing i wish to ask is is there a certain type of hard drive i need to buy or can i get any model! all i need is to buy the wrong one and have to bring it back!

    any help would be great!!! thanks:D

    oh and if it makes any difference my laptop is a Fujitsu Siemans AMILO pro

    you'll need a 2.5" ide hard drive, any model will do but try and get a 7200rpm as this drive would be a little bit faster. any of these would suit http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.aspx?bn=10094

    (dont think the amilo pro is sata but could be wrong, i'll check and come back to you)

    Here are some pictures , the best thing you can do is take out the hard drive in question and check , just in case ,

    Look at the pictures below , and compare them to the connectors on your drive , an IDE drive has 40 pins and takes a wide ribbon cable , a SATA drive has a completely different connector and takes a thin serial cable.

    You will , but you'll pay way more for it , last time I checked they were anything from 40 to 100 euro more.
