There's the Plustron Divx Player / DVD Recorder in Dunnes for €99.

Not sure whether it's good or not.

    Thread on it here

Probably better getting one of those on the page with a hard-disk?
Don't need DVDs if you're just recording to watch later & delete.
Also allow you to pause live tv (usually). Handy if the phone rings during coronation st.!!!

Agree you should pony up and get one with a hard disk :D

Much easier to use and recording onto dvd can be a pain...160gb should do the job...

don't know if it's the same model as mine, but I bought an Alba one about a year ago from Argos. It has given me some problems. Firstly it stopped being able to read discs-it would say 'no disc' when there was a disc in it. I actually took it back and got a replacement after this. Every so often it does the same thing but then fixes itself, and also some of my DVD-RWs have become coasters because themachine has failed to read them saying 'ERROR'. So have lost a few programmes and films through that.

To be honest you really do get what you pay for, in my experience any of the Alba goods I have purchased have been complete junk which was poorly designed and not at all user friendly.

Im thinking of getting one but how would I know if its capable of pausing live TV - I assume there is some technical wording for this.
