Quiet HTPC(ing)

I want to put together a HTPC in the near future. Have a few new(ish) components lying around. Have a new 250GB SATA disk to start with, along with a 400w power supply, and plan on purchasing a 8800 GTX for the 'ol PC, so will have a spare Radeon PCI-Ex16 X1800XT 512MB for the HTPC.

So this leaves me to buy the
    • mobo
    • RAM
    • processor + heatsink + fan
    • case
    • Blu-Ray drive (which I see online for about €150)
    • Vista MCE (don't know if I should go for 32 or 64bit)

As I said I want to be able to watch HD (Blu-Ray) disks, movies on hard disk, perhaps record TV (if possible great!, if not no biggie). Most important of all though I want to build something quiet (without going down the watercooling road) that I can turn on/off/control completely using a remote.

Is this possible, and if so what components would you be looking at?

I see a lot of people going for Intel based boxes, but varying between Quad and 2core processors. To be able to watch Blu-Ray media would my X1800XT be ok?
