    The original thread got locked.

The Independent Monitoring Commission has stated that members of the IRA were involved in the beating and death of Paul Quinn.

Also today dissidents shot and wounded a PSNI officer who was sat in traffic Dungannon.

The IMCs bold assertion is, one presumes based on something solid. The SF leadership will no doubt move to put distance between them and those who are accused.

No surprises there then ,since there was a wall of silence after the event . It will be like the McCartney crime never solved ,cynical I know to say it.

god thats 2 similar incidents in less than a week. If this continues surely its only a matter of time before this type of scum kill a PSNI officer. How the fuck do republicans who believe in 'armed struggle' still think they represent the people of Ireland?

What has this to do with politics? The "real IRA" are not politicans and afaik their political wing don't run anwhere at least not sucessfully..The alledged perpetrators of these crimes are not being defended by sf.
Ergo this can only be a discussion on criminals better suited to after hours or humanities.
    Thread moved to humanities.

    Thread moved to humanities.

the post was about those who killed paul quinn, about the IRA, but the real IRA (also claim to) have primarily have political motives, they were named by lord lairde in the house of commons, for politcal reasons, because of the political ramifications.

the misplaced strictness of the politics board and the idea that this thread could possible suceed in after hours is what is killing the politics forum.

Theres just no pleasing some people...

For the record it was lostexpectation that asked me to move the thread to humanities and I obliged.
I'd have thought if ye really wanted to discuss the subject minus me moving it,then ye would have started a new one here or in after hours.

These kind of threads (eg Maddie, itinerant shooting etc etc) can do well in after hours either. To say they don't is rubbish.
It's not a political discussion at all for the reason stated.

There may be a political element to it at some point later if it develops into say a Sinn Féin direct involvement. If it does,by all means start a thread on politics.
Theres nothing to suggest that at present.

Iasked you to atleast keep the thread open, another one is just going to be started by somebody else this was the second thread on paul quinn already...

well is that your judgement that it isn't directly political, so you reckon lord lairde is full of ****...? is that your opinion as a mod or as tristrame

Your exact words via pm were asking me to open and move it to humanities and I obliged. You'd be better off sticking to the topic than discussing me.
I'm not the subject of this thread and if you've any real interest in the subject you'd be discussing it without the need for this angsty tangent.

Regarding Lord Laird-he used parliamentary privelege to say what he said which is never a good starting off point if you are sure of your ground obviously.
No I don't think murderers are political, they are criminal regardless of their pedigree.
I don't see anything political in this murder unless you are going to come up with evidence that it was sanctioned by the Árd comhairle of Sinn Féin or something.
It's about as likely that will happen as say a paper boat made out of an poblacht carrying fare paying passengers to stranraer.
