hi all, i've seen it asked many times about combining aerials and lnb connections for running down a single cable using combiners/diplexers. what i want to do is slightly different

    firstly, my current setup:
sky+box in sitting room, rf output from that going to amplifier in the attic, which feeds two other rooms that use magic eyes to control the sky box. all working fine...now, what i want to do if possible is put a fta box in one of those rooms, but still be able to see all the channels from the sky+box. if i combine the two signals in the attic, will the magic eye signal make it back through the combiner and diplexer?

Simple answer is no. The diplexers allow power-pass on the satellite side (to power LNB of course), but the magic eyes also require power and a return path so won't work.

Best trying to get another coaxial cable into that room somehow for the FTA receiver.

Actually it might work if you use a "SkyLink compatible amplified splitter". This powers the "magic eye" directly so, provided the signal can get back to the Digibox RF2 outlet, it should work. You'll need a suitable diplexer at each end of the cable. See
