When is RAG week on? Personally, the thought of 2 'rival' colleges out in drunken force in town makes me happy.

there's prob no joint rag week for a reason, town would implode

the two are on this yr in february. town is going to be nuts.even with one college its hard to get into places

they're usually close, but are they together?

i'd be against a dual rag week, it would be impossible to get in anywhere, and less charity money for both sides, we all know the scumbag pubs that make their own rag week t shirts and sell them for their own profit.

The whole Rag Week thing is new to me. Could someone explain?

a week of attempts to avoid projectile vomit and ass grabbing.
basically it's a week to collect for charity with events and such. but it's a week long pissup that has been steered that way by certain pubs who make a helluva lot of profit over the week

it's just a gigantic waste of time if you ask me... there's usually one or two good nights... maybe the monday or and sometimes tuesday when everyone is up for it but by the end of the week everyone is just in a kind of prolonged drunken haze, not able to handle their drink and it degenerates to crap...

then again i'm slightly bitter because i've always had the most sadistic lecturers who always put the heaviest weighted assignment due for that week... and tend only to be able to join in at then end by which time it's just not fun anymore... and seeing as it's mostly ickle first years who go out i'm like.... meh...

still, there needs to be more charity crap. if i've time i might get more involved in that side of things this year.... but that's a IF.

the NUIG/GMIT being on at the same time though wouldn't work at all... the town would be absolute chaos, well quintupled chaos...

I recall the two rag weeks being concurrent when I was an undergrad. It was no better or worse than normal, in fact I barely saw a denizen of Bovine University around town at all.

In fact they were on the same week about 4 years ago IIRC. And it was a disaster. They also put it on the same week as the Novena in the Cathedral. Cue auld grannies seeing their grandkids stumbling out of pubs and puking all over the church steps.

The Guards then "advised" the colleges not to have them on the same week again.

Anyway tis a sh1t idea. We don't want to be stopped from going into anywhere because it already full of GMITers.

Probably won't make much difference to me this year. Getting a bit old for Rag Week proper and if you can't do it right don't do it.

Doesn't bother me. Never went in for it, apart from the week of living in a box.

sure everybody from both colleges go out both weeks anyways so it wouldn really be a bit of a difference, just more of the djs in clubs jivin on the rivalry!

Wasn't there a huge gap between rag weeks last year? A month at least I think. Seems to make the most sense that way I'd reckon. The way it was the year before with one running the week after the other just got messy. But I suppose two weeks of constant drinking will do that to some people...

meh, poverty prevents me enjoying both.

Rag week is the 18th of February. So I think thats the same week as Sligo rag week if memory serves me right. So me thinks I'll be spending that week in Sligo, at least we might have a remote chance of getting in somewhere and the craic will be far better.
