Hollywoods To-do list before the strikes

There's an article in this months Empire about the films that studios are pushing to me made before the actors strike (and to an extent, the writers strike, but it's a bit late to try and beat that).

I was going to list the films, but it'd take too long. So I just scanned them.

There's a few films there that I'm looking forward to, but what confuses and angers me is some of the choices for remakes:

    The Seven Samurai
The Day The Earth Stood Still (with Keanu Reeves  )
    Fantastic Voyage
Street Fighter (I can't be the only one who enjoyed the original? Oh wait, I am :( )
Escape From New York (with Gerard Butler? Sacrilege!!!)
Capricorn One (another favourite of mine)
Barbarella (Directed by Robert Rodriguez, so no doubt it'll be Anthonio Banderas as Barbarella )
Creature From The Black Lagoon (seriously, the original was good because it was bad. This will fail unless they make it a comedy)
The Dirty Dozen (Directed by Guy Ritchie. This could actually be good. What's the bets Jason Statham is in it?)
    Clash Of The Titans (*sigh*)

Well there's just some of the films. It's actually kind of depressing seeing how few films are originals. The rest are either remakes or sequels/prequels.

Eh, the files are too big to post here, so I had to upload them to a filehost. Just scroll down until you find the download link.

Watch yourself talking this way. If Karl sees you endorsing the remake of an Asian classic, he's likely to go to work on you with a katana himself!

I've read some details on the proposed Seven Samurai remake, which if true, really indicate it's going to be a complete abomination in the worst imaginable way.

Don't anyone dare be excited about this ****.

Clash of the Titans.... unless they use stop motion again (which they wont)

What in the hell made them think they could pull off a Day The Earth Stood Still Remake?

I hope your joking! this is nothing short of a fvcking disgrace.

How disrespectful...nobody is gonna dare remake citizen Kane or the godfather but since it is an asian film its fine.

As for an escape from new york remake with gerard Butler......

All this genuinely angers, upsets and depresses me to be frank and honest and I weep for humanity if people can get away with putting stuff like this out:mad:

Actually I take back what I said because in all fairness it does look like it's gonna be balls. I was thinking they were going for an adaptation of the anime Seven Samurai but it looks like some genius somewhere decided to remaked the movie. BLEH!

Just don't say that out loud and give them ideas. They might just, you know.

To be entirely fair, The Seven Samurai has to be one of the most remade films of all time. The Magnificent Seven, Battle Beyond The Stars, A Bug's Life, Seven Swords, the aforementioned Anime series, even an episode of Firefly, and I'm sure there's probably dozens more I've forgotten or am unaware of.

The original film is easily one of the most influencial films in history, not just because of how many times the storyline has been re-used or character archetypes it spawned, but it's a technical masterpiece that's influence can be still be felt in many moderns films.

As such, I think this film is untouchable.

But I'm still annoyed that they have the cheek to use the name "Seven Samurai" when it's possibly not even about Samurai, nor even Japan!
