    Hey guys,

Just bought a new PC that comes with the nVidia 8600 GT 256 mb graphics card. It says its SLI compatable but I havent much knowledge of hardware (from a software background) but is it possible then to just purchased the same card again and run them together? Is it difficult to set up????

    Thanks in advance

    D

You need a motherboard that has two pci-e slots, and also a nvidia chipset. What computer is it? Unless you've built it yourself or customized it, it's highly unlikely it has either. Ati cards can run in Crossfire on any board with 2xPci-e slots, Sli needs a board with an nvidia chipset.

TBH, a lot of the time you can sell off your current GPU & upgrade to a card costing twice as much -- except that performance is better than the SLI solution.

And better with regards to noise/power/setup headaches, too...
