The human half of Spock appears to have a new face. Daily Variety has reported that Oscar-nominated actress Winona Ryder has been cast as "Amanda Grayson," the first human wife of Sarek, in the new "Star Trek XI" movie now in production under the direction of J.J. Abrams.

The temptation to make a "show stealing" joke is immense, but I'll over come it.

That said, I'm a little concerned by this. Am I the only one thinking perhaps she's a little young for this at 36? Unless they work in a flash back sequence anywhere there...

Except Amanda Grayson was human, hence the half-human Spock.

I presume she will be seen in flashbacks or heavily made-up (although that makes little sense otherwise they would have just got an older actress) or both.

But seeing that they have cast a 24 Aussie from Home and Away as Kirk's auld lad anything is possible.
