    Hiya folks,

Been thinking about getting a loop pedal, to layer guitar parts live, but was reading a few reviews around the net there, and a lot seem to say "good for practice, wouldn't use it live", problems with tone, bar length etc etc.

I was originally thinking of going for a boss RC 2 or RC 20, but have you any other suggestions?
Do you find it easy/difficult to incorporate a loop pedal into your live performance?

    the boss ones are decent.
The line6 dl4 is probably my favourite loop pedal. And it's got really nice delays on it.

cheers for that. which boss would u recommend? the rc-2 or rc-20?
I have a boss delay at the moment, which aint a bad old pedal...

heard good and bad about the headrush. can it store samples/loops, that could be used again?

Nope - thats a sampling pedal. This has three modes - Normal echo, Tape echo and loop. Simple, does its job well and sounds great.

The Line6 DL4 is great if you only need loops that are less than 14 seconds long. Any more and you need to start looking elsewhere.

I recently got a Boss RC2 because of this limitation, and also to free up the DL4 so I can use all of its delay/echo effects.

+1 for the Akai Headrush. Picked one up on musicstore.de a little while ago and it's great. You'll be looping within a few mins. Very easy to use

yeah me too ...but to be honest i was a bit disappointed with the looping time...

It is a little short but its not too bad when set on extend. If it only saved your loops. Then again it is more of an easy to use Live looper and it does a great job at that

It's a little short alright especially if I'm say looping a 12 bar slow blues tune. It always starts flashing the 2nd time and i have a few bars of the rythm left...damn:(

The headrush is my next pedal buy, maybe in a few weeks. :)

rc 20 seems quite popular, i know a few ppl who use them live. you need to be well practiced to use them live though, you have to get the loop bang on time, which is not easily done if you're nervous. but i think any new technique is difficult to pull off for the first time live no matter how many times you've nailed it in practice, but the more you get used to doing it live obviously the more confident you get. the line6 is a good option as well, especially if you want to mix it up with some delay effects too. or if ya wanna go mad the boss rc 50 though it don't come cheap, even off thomann. and i've heard a few bad reports about it too.

    ive used a boss rc20

it has very long sampling and can store 4 in its memory
which can be overdubbed and still saved

it is kinda tricky to get a perfect loop (red light syndrome!)
but works well with a bit of practice

    what does that mean?

    what does that mean?

ever tried to record yourself? red light comes on and you flub up even though you know the piece like the back of your hand. :D

Do you mean recording in general or is it just specific to the Boss looper?

    recording in general.

He means with any looper. The akai is my first loop pedal and it is hard sometimes to get the overdubs perfectly in time with the main loop

saw a guy called jamie woon on tv (digital channel 375) using a line6 sampler. seemed good, but i dont really want the delays and stuff...
