I have been seeing a counsellor in cork for the last few months who has been very helpful to me, if you are based in cork i really recommend her, send me a private message if you want her details....best of luck

Thanks all for yr message, i started this thread because i actually sent an email to a consellor in the national counselling web site, that was wednesday last week, but no reply.
I think i m kinda dealing with it myself but I fear I might not finish it
or maybe i m just pretending the problem will go away eventually on its own.
    Any advice on this?
did anyone dealt with a counselor that they can recommend in Dublin? and is this like a psicologist? (spelling?) i dont want to be stuck for years thats why I m asking.
    Thanks again

To be honest, the best way to get in contact is to visit a centre or pick up a phone. E-mail might not be checked for days.

Can users be wary of having personal dealings with unknown parties, especially people with only 2 posts.

"Its good to talk" - even if you do it with a friend or family member.

You might try your / a local GP - they are likely to have a list of people locally / convenient.
and is this like a psicologist? (spelling?)
Psychologist. Yes and no I suppose - different situations have different treatments. A counsellor will usually have some training in psychology, however a psychologist will probably have a masters degree in psychology. Much of their treatment will be in (you) talking, however a psychologist will have lots of other tools also.

Definitely go and see your GP, and ask for a few counsellors names and ring them all to get a feel for them. You need someone that you are comfortable talking with. Good Luck

Samaritans? Might not technically be 'Counselling' but theres someone to listen, at least

If you are in school/college they most usually have counsellors

    www.psihq.ie - psychologists
    www.psychotherapy-ireland.ie
www.babcp.com -Find a Therapist - Republic of Ireland
BUT first try your GP - there is free counselling in the HSE mental health services & he/she'll know of REPUTABLE people (too many counselling scandals recently)

If your on the north side of dublin you can try the northside partnership they provide a free service if you cant afford to pay for it.

If you go to a gp in your area they will recommend someone in the area and know who is good for your problem and what type of doctor/counsellor you need depending on your issues/problem.
