    Is there a rough formula for how many blind levels it will take to reach a final table/heads-up? I.e if you know starting stack, number of runners and how many minutes each level is can you work out (roughly) when the thing will be over? Or is it all guess-work?

    on the way out the door but will reply to this later. basically its simple maths, but yes you can time it perfectly.

    I too would appreciate some guidance regarding this. I assume it's difficult to predict correctly unless you know the style of the players?

    Pretty simple for a 30/40 runner event;

    Lets say starting stack is 6,000 and there are 40 players.

    240,000 chips in play (total).

    When play gets to heads up the average stack will be 120,000.

    With blinds at 6,000 - 12,000 each player will have ten big blinds so expect play to finish around this level or the next.

    Hope this helps, if its not clear let me know and I will edit and elaborate.

    I was going to advise similar, but would of used the example of 10BBs at 6 handed. So at 2k/4k the final 6 will start dropping off. And there will be 1 - 2 hours left untill its over.
