How to fix slide not locking back on 1911

    Ok, we 1911s are great but the odd time they dont lock back on the last shot, why?

    I know why.

    If you put an empty mag in your 1911, it will push up the slide catch against the slide, now it will work.
    But depress it with your thumb and it may STAY down a little bit, not against the slide, now pulling back the slide, the catch will stay down.

    This happens because a notch on the slide catch sticks with the spring pushing against it. You will see this if you try it yourself.

    File this down very slightly and its fixed, careful now as you dont want to wreck it, just enough so it cant stick down unnecessarily.
