Hey guys I'm Tim and I'm a newbie here.

So basically I currently have Chorus analogue television. I wanted to get digital television of some kind so I said sure I will ring them up and ask if they will upgrade me to digital, aparantley I'm not in range, so there is no way of me getting Chorus digital.

I then said, sure Iwill ring NTL for the laugh, they said they would put it through MMDS no bother & they would be around next week, as you may of guessed they did not come, so I rang them the next day to make a new appoinment & to confirm that I could get digital television, they assured me I could and they would install it in a weeks time, they did not come, I rang again and they then sent engineers out, but no not for digital but for analogue, because aparently we can't get digital with NTL either.

So basically what I have no is a crappy analogue pack from UPC or what used to be Chorus and I'm not even recieving 5 channels, inclunding channel 6, setanta, paramount etc...

The picture quality I'm currently getting is awful...so I'm asking what are my options who could I go with? I want decent telivision channels and decent picture quality!

    Cheers guys,

    Tim

Chorus and NTL are now operating together as UPC.

If you've no chance of getting digital from them, look elsewhere, especially if you're not tied into any contract. The picture quality of Sky's line-up is quite good, with some channels being better than others. My only quibble would be the seemingly constant price rises.

Yeah I was considering sky, I heard the quality was good and I really like the idea of sky+, but I'm not sure if its worth it, 45Eur a month for multiroom, is it worth that much, I mean is the programming all that good? and reliability etc...

    Thank you for replying :D

You can get a very good selection on Sky for 22 Euro
You can feed the SAME channel to all rooms
On Satellite there are about 45 decent free TV & 30 decent free radio that will work with a once off €70 receiver from same dish, all the BBC & ITV, in fact more than come up on the Sky box.

See ICDG in my sig and also the Satellite Forum stickies.

Inherently Sky is better quality than cable as the cable signals are either analogue off air, satellite off air or the same feeds as Satellite uses. Also the main channels (RTE, BBC etc) that have high quality on Satellite are transmitted at higher compression on cable.

Satellite is more reliable. I don't remember last time someone took a hacksaw to a Satellite.
