Importing mail to MS Outlook

Hello. On my home PC, I use MS Outlook.
I was given a folder with mail in it from another PC using MS Outlook.
The folder is named "Personal(1).pst" and has a size of 1.7GB.
If I try to open from desktop, my PC recommends .XML editor.

What I really need to do is to transfer it so that it will be a folder in my own MS Outlook and that I can easily access the mail within.

Any "fool-friendly" instructions would be really appreciated.

    1. ensure Outlook is running.
    2. click the 'File' menu then the 'Import and Export' option.
    3. scroll down and click on 'Import from another program' option.
    4. click 'Next' button.
    5. scroll down and click on 'Personal Folder File (*.pst)'.
    6. click 'Next' button.
    7. click on the 'Browse' button.
    8. locate the .PST file and click on it.
    9. select your preferred 'duplicates' option.
    10. click 'Next' button.
    11. click on Folder to import.
    12. ensure 'Include subfolders' is selected unless you have reasons not to.
    13. select folder to import into.
    14. click on the 'Finish' button.
A direct copy/paste from google search...

Just make sure NOT to import it into your own personal folders as it will mix the imported email with your own current email.

if either is outlook express then the import / export is very different because the only thing outlook and outlook express share besides the name is the ability of outlook express to use outlook's address book

    PST's come in two types,
97 to 2000 used a type that could only go to 2GB
later versions use a different non-backward compatible type so you have to create a 97/2000 PST and then export into it

I don't know what 2007 uses as I've heard it's so much slower than 2003 that I've lost all interest

The ONLY thing I use outlook for is converting mail between different systems and programs.
i.e. Export address book in Thunderbird
    Import to Outlook
    Sync to E65 phone.
Junk outlook. All 2300 email addresses & phone numbers now in new phone.
