Hope I've got the correct forum here! Just wondering if I'm correct here or in the wrong. Was turned away from a nightclub today after being told it was over 23s tonight. (Was told this immediately, before being asked any questions or showing ID etc...) Somewhere in my memory I recall hearing it being against the law to do so without there being a sign on the premises stating the age limit? I don't mind so much not getting in except I'll be 21 in a month and a load of girls I know to be 18/19 got in without so much as being IDed. Frustrating as it is I'd just like to know if they were in the wrong here as I could least entertain myself by going up again next week and bringing this up with them or complain to the management about the door staff.
    Thanks for any help.

There has to be a sign visible at the entrance to that effect by law!! If its not there then bring it up with management!!

These sort of threads come up hear every few weeks

The nightclubs know the law and will always have themselves covered i some way or another, and at the end of the day they can just say they reserve the right of admission. One club I know of even has a changeable sign with different age limits they stick on it, not sure if they change it just on a noghtly basis or perhaps more often.

People come on here thinking they can sue the nightclub or take them to court when realistically your only option is to go somewhere else, as a complaint to the manager is hardly going to get you very far.

Moral of the story: Bouncers + Club owners = w*nkers

You could object to the renewal of the license if you feel that strongly about it.

It would be stated in their license, what is the legal age allowed in the club.

Then again they only have to let in who they want and say they had the safety of their customers and staff in mind.
