    Hi,

    There seems to be a shortage of wii everywhere at the moment, but has anyone had any experience of buying one in the US?

    In NY at the end of the month and tempted by bundles like this one

    http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=B020070V

    Works out at €323 and includes

    * Nintendo Wii system (system, remote controller, nunchuck, stand, sensor and Wii Sports)
    * Wii Memory SD 1.0GB
    * Wii Charge Station (Dual port rapid recharging dock, 2 rechargeable NiMH battery packs, rubberized battery covers and 6 foot power cable. *Does not include additional remote controllers)
    * 1 additional Wii Nunchuck Controller
    * Wii Play with Remote
    * Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
    * Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

    Might pick up a few games and can always get colleagues in work to ship US games to Ireland. What thinks ye?

    I was thinking of doing the same, but got advised on here that the games are region coded, so the ones here wont work.

    but, games seem a tad over priced here, so not too worried about having to buy European/UK games.

    I had a quick look around town and the average game is €50, to be honest I am thinking I will prob buy 2-3 games a year at most.

    Are you thinking of pre or post Christmas?

    Will a chip sort this prob ?

    It wont natively play European games. Even with a mod-chip, it won't play all Euro games.

    The problem isn't entirely the region coding, it's the video system they use in the US (NTSC instead of our PAL) that causes most of the problems.

    Also, you'd be using the US VC, instead of the European VC. Not a big issue, but you might run into difficulties buying something from US VC using a European credit card.

    Surely it's to awkward feckin' around with US games, better to just buy a PAL system and not have to worry about foreign warranties and Wii Points and the like.

    There's no 6-9 month delays on games like paper mario and trauma centre, games are cheaper and so are Wii points. Kind of annoyed that I didn't hold out for an NTSC model myself.
